About

Andrea Trabucco-Campos is a Partner at Pentagram, a graphic and type designer whose practice utilizes typography and behavior to build transformative visual identities. An active voice in emerging technologies like AI, his work investigates their role in the design process and culture. His output spans the digital to the material, encompassing brand identities and systems, websites and apps, print and editorial, motion and interaction, signage and environmental, and custom typefaces.

Andrea has led teams in transforming and launching some of the world’s most renowned brands. He has partnered with a range of organizations including Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Apple, Mastercard, The New York Times, United Nations, Noma, Space10 (IKEA’s Creative Lab), and MasterClass, among others.

Andrea was born in Colombia, grew up in Italy and now resides in New York. He leverages the experience of his own cultural journey to uncover the essence of others' identities. His pursuit of contextual tensions and fluency in design history allows him to create work that crosses boundaries, strategically putting brands in conversation with culture.

In 2022, Andrea co-founded and runs Vernacular, a small independent publisher with a focus on the intersection of form, typography and visual culture that stretch beyond the commonly agreed registers of “good design.” His first book, Artificial Typography, has garnered international attention and recognition for pushing the evolving conversation of AI and design.
